Sustainable supply chain
Sustainable supply chain management means the management of material, information and capital flows as well as cooperation among companies along the supply chain taking care that environmental and social standards are met along all stages of the supply chain.
Whereas energy efficiency evaluations are based on the total energy consumed in a company for its activities, the life-cycle-approach also considers the energy consumed and the environmental footprint of resources used and of products in the total supply chain. Thus, sustainable life-cycle assessment provides in-depth knowledge on materials and processes regarding their energy and environmental impact and is important for procurement and investments of a company as well as for optimizing its production to be more sustainable and less harmful for the environment. IMPAWATT provides methods and tools to understand and reduce energy consumption and the ecological footprint, e.g. webinars and databases and simple tools for a better management of the supply chain regarding the following subjects:
Life cycle assessment knowledge for companies
Guidelines for life cycle cost
Use of sustainability indicators
Environmental labelling
